Complete Preview of Record Store Day in the Twin Cities
This Saturday, April 17th is Record Store Day. There’s all kinds of awesome in store performances and great deals on music at every record store in town. I’m super pissed I’m going to be fixing my house on Saturday so I’m going to miss out the festivities. If anybody participates, let me know. Hymie’s is a beautiful treasure chest of records currently located in south Minneapolis but very soon moving to a new location in downtown Minneapolis. They are clearing house for their move so expect good deals including 25cent LPs and 10cent 45s and 78s.
They’ve cleared out enough space to have performances going on all day. Here’s the line-up:

Whoa, looks like the Fetus is doing it up. The first 200 people to show up and spend $15 or more get a ticket for an exclusive Solid Gold/Idle Hands show that night at Nick & Eddie’s in Loring Park. Dr. Dog will be doing in store performance at 1 and Paul Cebar at 430. Also, they’ll be giving out “goodie bags” with CDs and are offering hourly drawing for prize packs of 7” singles and other “cool shit”.

Fifth Element

The Fifth Element, Minneapolis’s hip hop home, will also be doing it up this Saturday with in store performances by Eyedea, Dessa, A.R.M, Prof & Rahzwell, Longshot, DJ Snuggles, Mike Dreams, I.B.E, Ernest Rhodes, and Yakub and DJ Sets by Paper Tiger, Jimmy 2 Times, King Otto, DJ Anton, Nikoless, Espada, and Noam The Drummer. There will be special offers on all Rhymesayers and Soundset artists and ticket giveaways for Soundset 2010!

Treehouse Records, an uptown favorite will be opening up early to offer nearly 200 different Record Store Day exclusive releases. They’ve geared up and added a whole new stock to the store and bulked up the $1 bin. They are promising all kinds of “surprises” for those that celebrate record store day with them.
